STARS GLITTER AT CASINO

If you are are a star gazer, get out your camera and head down to the Edgewater Casino on False Creek at around 8 p.m. this evening to watch as the limos pull up and actors and actresses walk the red carpet into a giant celebration of Hollywood North.

Entertainment Tonight Canada's Rick Campanelli will be hosting. "It really is an honour when I get to travel the country and meet people who watch the show," he said after landing here Friday. "I love getting out here. It's great to be in Vancouver."

Campanelli said he will be putting on a bow tie and tuxedo for the event. "When it comes to red carpets, everyone is out there to impress," said the perky 38-year-old show guy. "If you are hosting, you want to look at least as good as everyone else."

The Saturday night party is being thrown by Vancouver-based Insight Film Studios, Canada's largest producer of independent films. Around a dozen limos have been booked for the event to bring in local stars like John Cassini, Ben Ratner, Camille Sullivan, Sonya Salomaa, Steve Bacic, Sonja Bennett, Alisen Down and many more.

GENTLEMEN PREFER:

Do blonds really have more fun? Yes, said naturally blond, Sudbury, Ont. native Sonya Salomaa, who accompanied Croatia-born fellow thesp Steve Bacic to the Brightlight Pictures party. In fact, "I was having too much fun," the forester-turned-actress said, tossing her now dramatically darker mane, "I was bored."

Was going brunette a good move or otherwise? "Good," Salomaa said. "They take me more seriously," they being the producers who cast her in such TV series as The Guard (with Bacic). A Gemini nomination for her role in the series Durham County likely helps, too. Salomaa and Bacic are to host Entertainment Tonight Canada Oct. 7.
